Beloved community physician, Dr. Irving D. Wolfe, set to retire after 50 years of dermatology service in the Owings MIlls community
OWINGS MILLS, MD — (May 19, 2025) - After more than five decades of serving the Owings Mills community, esteemed dermatologist Dr. Irving D. Wolfe has announced his retirement from clinical practice, effective June 26, 2025. Dr. Wolfe works at Dermatology Partners – Owings Mills, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier privately owned, physician-led dermatology group.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Dr. Wolfe’s career has spanned over 50 years and has left an indelible mark on both his patients and the dermatologic community. He is a proud alumnus of Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he earned his undergraduate and medical degrees, respectively. Following his internship with the U.S. Public Health Service, Dr. Wolfe completed his dermatology residency at the University of Maryland Hospital, serving as chief resident.
Dr. Wolfe later led the Division of Dermatology at Sinai Hospital and held esteemed faculty positions at both Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland Schools of Medicine. In addition to providing compassionate and expert patient care, Dr. Wolfe has also served as a mentor, educator, and public health advocate throughout his distinguished career.
In June 2024, Dr. Wolfe’s private practice, Irving D. Wolfe Dermatology, was acquired by Dermatology Partners, ensuring a seamless transition of care for patients as he approached retirement. “It was incredibly important to me that my patients continue to receive the same high-quality, compassionate care,” said Dr. Wolfe. “I’m confident that Dermatology Partners shares that mission.”
As part of this transition, Dr. Wolfe worked closely with Dermatology Partners to identify a successor who embodies a patient-first philosophy and clinical excellence. He is proud to announce that Dr. Michael Hong will assume care for patients at the Owings Mills location beginning July 1, 2025.
Dr. Hong is completing his dermatology residency at the University of Maryland, with training at both the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Baltimore VA. He completed his preliminary year in internal medicine at Sinai Hospital, earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University, and received his medical degree from the University of Maryland. His expertise spans medical, surgical, and pediatric dermatology, and he is recognized for his warm, compassionate approach to patient care.
