Caring for the communities we serve has always been at the heart of Dermatology Partners. As part of that commitment, we are continually looking for meaningful ways to support the health and well-being of our neighbors—both inside and outside the clinic.
This year, we are proud to focus those efforts around something that brings so many people together: baseball.
From local little league fields to community parks and stadiums, baseball is a place where families and friends gather and spend time outdoors—often for hours in the sun. While those moments are part of what makes the game so special, they can also increase the risk of skin damage and skin cancer over time.
That’s why we’ve launched a new community-wide sun safety initiative.
A Partnership Rooted in Care
We are honored to partner with the Richard David Kann (RDK) Melanoma Foundation and the Mike Schmidt Foundation, alongside Hall of Famer and former Philadelphia Phillies player Mike Schmidt.
After experiencing melanoma himself, Mike Schmidt has become a passionate advocate for prevention and education. Together, we share a common goal: helping people stay safe, healthy, and informed.
Why This Matters
Skin cancer affects one in five Americans, but many cases can be prevented with simple steps like using sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, and seeking shade.
By bringing education and resources directly into the community, we hope to make those healthy choices easier and more accessible for everyone.
What You Can Expect
Throughout the season, our team will be out in the community—meeting people where they are and sharing practical ways to stay protected in the sun.
This initiative includes:
- Easy-to-understand sun safety education
- Free sunscreen available at select locations and events
- Community events designed for families, athletes, and fans
We are also working with local teams like the Reading Fightin’ Phils and the Wilmington Blue Rocks to help expand our reach and connect with even more members of our community.
Join Us
We invite you to be part of this effort.
Our first “Play Sun Safe” events will take place:
- April 17 in Ridley Park
- April 21 in Doylestown
These events are just the beginning, and we look forward to continuing this work throughout the season.
By coming together, we can help protect one another and build healthier communities—one small step, and one sunny day, at a time.
